Rock and Roll Over is Kiss at its catchiest. This classic, essential album turns out some of the boldest, chunkiest rhythms Kiss would ever record, a phase that would continue to spill onto their next studio release, Love Gun. This may not be my favorite Kiss album, but it''s the most fun and energized record they ever made, owing to the trusty work of producer Eddie Kramer. For some, Rock and Roll Over may be a guilty pleasure, but who''s to say that there''s anything wrong with pop hard rock? The opener, "I Want You", softly beckons the listener, then launches into a chorus that''s impossible to ignore. The next 3 tracks, "Take Me", "Calling Dr. Love", and "Ladies Room", are nothing less than pop gold. "Baby Driver" follows, with vocals nailed to perfection by Peter Criss. Despite Criss''s peak vocal performance, the song itself is one of the least remarkable on the album, resulting in a tune that borders on silliness. One can''t help but imagine a toddler at the wheel of a brand-new pedal car as he tries his best to maneuver around the driveway. "Love ''Em and Leave ''Em" will soon have the listener forgetting the baby with a chunky, heavily pumping rhythm that''s enjoyably muppet-esque and irresistible. So basic, yet so effective, and SO addictive. This track, back-to-back with "Mr. Speed" are the best tracks found on the album, spoiling the listener with their pop perfection. Even if the next, "See You in Your Dreams", fails to match the bold, standout quality of the others, it certainly doesn''t disappoint. "Hard Luck Woman" is yet another vocally stunning (and beautifully rendered) track by Peter Criss. One only wishes it was a little bit longer. The tenth and final track, "Makin'' Love", is really the only track that fails to hold up with the rest. Although filled with energy, it results in a repetitive, fade-out closer. The only real con is that this album''s too short: 33 minutes is just NOT enough.

KISS took a back to basics approach following the release of their blockbuster album Destroyer, and the result is Rock and Roll Over. This was a good idea as I don''t think trying to top Destroyer would have been as successful. What they came up with instead is yet another KISS classic and features (in my opinion) their best album cover. All the songs are catchy, the guitar work by Ace Frehley is spot on, and KISS rack up another win. Recommended.

This vinyl sounds absolutely incredible! Good, loud, deep bass (I do have a subwoofer) and the mix with guitars and vocals is very good, for sure. This is one of my favorite KISS albums and it sounds better than ever on this vinyl!

I could never pick a favorite KISS album by the original four, but this is a candidate. I think it was the height of their skills coming together. Straight-ahead, catchy rock n roll with that raw energy. Too bad they had such internal issues that derailed them and ultimately broke them up. At least they left behind some great 70s rock!

Side note. Amazon should protect CDs better when shipping. My case was a wreck and I had to put the cd in a new one.

I''ve been a Kiss fan since this album''s release. I think that this is the very best album of all time. This album really rocks and I believe that it''s timeless. As the years passed I''ve owned the album, several cassettes that I had to keep buying because I would wear them out, and cds. I obviously have it on iphone and ipod. It''s a great album and the guys were very tight in their playing. Just as good today as it was back in the day.

As always the good ol rock and roll. They call them classics now but I remember a time when they were new. I guess I''m a classic too. Haha
The 60''s through the 80''s are hard to beat and haven''t seen it done yet. What do you think?
